Research Focus

I am a postdoctoral Research Associate in One Health with the Centre of Excellence in Water-Based Early-Warning Systems for Health Protection (CWBE) at the University of Bath. In this role, I am completing research on the Cam and Wellow Brook Partnership Project—a project supported by the Water Industry National Environment Programme.

Using the state-of-the-art chromatography and mass spectrometry facilities available at CWBE, I will leverage my clinical experience and analytical chemistry expertise to assess environmental and public health risks from chemical contaminants in the local water catchment, inform evidence-based interventions, monitor their impact, and assist in the development of a One Health Platform.

Research Interests

  • One Health: Identifying and quantifying chemical residues in water matrices to assess public and environmental health
  • Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry: Development and application of chemical analysis methods using a variety of technologies (e.g., LC, GC, GCxGC, SFC, MS/MS, HRMS) to elicit chemical insights which can inform One Health actions
  • Water-Based Epidemiology (WBE): Applying WBE frameworks to assess population-level health trends
  • Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): Identifying the source of antimicrobials in wastewater and the risks these residues pose for AMR emergence
  • Human Biomonitoring & Pharmacokinetics: Identifying novel biomarkers and the fate of chemicals (e.g., pharmaceuticals, hazardous industrial chemicals) in the human body
